chewy fruit & nut slices

packed with

these slices are sweetened with natural sugars found in the bananas. the addition of nuts and chia seeds makes them a filling snack or breakfast choice for ‘on the go’

makes 15 slices

  • 2 large, ripe bananas
  • 4 tbsp of nut butter (I used hazelnut)
  • ½ cup (50g) almonds (roughly chopped)
  • ½ cup (50g) brazil nuts (roughly chopped)
  • 2 tbsp of desiccated coconut
  • 2 tbsp of chia seeds
  • 2 tsps of cinnamon
  • ½ cup (50g) dried fruit (I used dates)
  • 3 cups (200g) oats

make and do

  • - combine all ingredients and blend until smooth, add water depending on the consistency desired
  • - storing ingredients for your smoothie in the fridge and the addition of ice cubes makes the smoothie nicely chilled

with a twist

  • - use 1-2 tsps of dried green powders such as spirulina or wheatgrass as alternative to fresh greens
  • - add a date to boost the sweetness of the smoothie
