Next time you are shopping pick up a small jar of coconut oil and when you get home put it in your bedroom; it is an amazing all-round nourishing and moistening beauty product. I was telling my friend about this the other day; let’s just say she needed a lot of convincing but I’ll convert her yet!
As important as it is to be conscious to about what goes in your mouth, what we put on our skin is vitally important too. A lot of soap and cosmetic products are filled with chemicals and toxins. Coconut oil is brilliant substitute that can be used for tonnes for everyday hair and beauty rituals. Choose a 100% organic raw, cold pressed variety of to ensure all the vital nutrients are retained.
Here’s my top five uses for coconut oil:
I am a shower before bed kinda gal and I love to apply this post shower when my pores are open. A little goes a long way here. Amazingly it doesn’t feel oily and absorbs into the skin really well. It’s particularly effective on those stubborn spots like elbows, heels and knees! It’s also really lovely as a glossy lip balm.
Just pop a little blob on your eye lids and wipe with a cotton pad, so long mascara.
I do this by my pulling my hair up into a high pony tail and applying roughly a tablespoon size of coconut oil onto the ends of my hair and rubbing in gently. Leave overnight if possible and wash out in the morning for lush locks!
Coconut oil is naturally antibacterial and antifungal so it’s great to use as a healing aid on cuts, abrasions and any skin blemishes.
Ok, I’ll admit I wasn’t convinced when I heard about this first, but it works. Trust me! Apply a generous layer to your legs and shave away, the best bit is you don’t need to moisturise afterwards.
