Truth be told I’m a ‘make it yourself kinda gal’! I adore the prepping, cooking and eating of food, glorious food and knowing what’s in my food and where it has come from is really important to me.
That being said it is not always possible to prepare your own food and unfortunately the convenience of grabbing food on the go often back fires, not just in taste but in quality too, epic sigh… People with food allergies and intolerances are often in a real pickle when it comes to grabbing convenience food and those of us looking for good quality ingredients are left wanting.
I have been lucky enough this National Vegetarian Week to try out some of Dees Wholefoods products which I think fill this gap perfectly. Based here in Cork (totally biased!!), I sampled the veg pots which are delicious and packed with organic produce.
I tried a few of the veg pots and these were my favourite;
The Thai veg pot was packed with squash, potato & lentils. This had a creamy texture thanks to the coconut milk (dairy free I’ll have you know) and with a just enough kick to get the taste buds going.
Delicious eaten alone but I teamed this with a really simple courgette salad:
The second dish I tried was the Quinoa Pot Hot Mexican Peppers;
